Este es un proyecto que reúne artes visuales, fotografía y literatura, así como textos reflexivos sobre aspectos LGBTIQ tanto en Guatemala como en Centroamérica.
Una amplia gama de artistas contribuyen con su obra, no intentando aislar como algo separado del resto del espacio cultural y humano ni su arte ni a los sujetos subyacentes con que dicho arte lidia.
En realidad su inclusión implica un pequeño aporte que aspira a normalizar la presencia del sujeto LGBTIQ en un país que permanece hostil y opresivo ante este, en donde impera la impunidad y en donde la obsesión con la diferencia continúa hiriendo, violando, matando… No obstante, es este también un contexto de resistencia, de desafío, de lucha constante; uno en donde cada vez más voces convocan a la unidad, un creciente movimiento.
Este desafío frontal insiste en crecer también a través del arte. Nuestro proyecto trasciende la mera estética con el fin de politizar y movilizar, de trabajar con miras a una genuina equidad e inclusión, donde los derechos puedan algún día ser plenamente respetados e implementados, donde la violencia pueda quizás algún día ser memoria del pasado, un distante pasado.
La Fanzine es una organización sin fines de lucro, que busca la promoción, sustento y visibilización de los artistas en nuestra comunidad a efecto de dar a conocer sus obras sobre una plataforma visible y digna. Los aportes de todo tipo, incluyendo las contribuciones artísticas y literarias para publicación, se hacen de forma voluntaria con el fin de apoyar al movimiento LGBTIQ+ de la región, nuestra lucha y su talento.
En específico, las colaboraciones para la edición impresa de La Fanzine son ad honorem y su finalidad es la visibilización tanto de los temas LGBTIQ+ como del talento de la comunidad. Lo recaudado por medio de la venta de revistas, objetos y entradas a eventos se utiliza exclusivamente para la autofinanciación de proyectos presentes y futuros, incluyendo su logística.
La Fanzine is a project that brings together visual arts, photography and literature, as well as reflective texts about LGBTIQ issues in Guatemala and in Central America.
A wide array of artists contribute to this offering, not with the intention of isolating this work as something separate from the rest of the cultural and human space, its art, or the underlying subjects said art deals with.
Its inclusion really implies a small contribution that aspires to normalize the presence of the LGBTIQ subject in a country that remains hostile and oppressive towards it, where impunity prevails and where the obsession with difference continues to hurt, rape, kill…. However, this is also a context of resistance, challenge, constant fight; one in which every day, more voices summon to unity, a growing movement.
This head-on challenge insists on growing also through art. Our project transcends mere aesthetics with the intention of politicizing and mobilizing, of working with our sight set firmly on genuine fairness and inclusion, where rights may one day be fully respected and implemented, where violence may one day be a memory of the past, a distant past.
La Fanzine is a non-profit organization that seeks the promotion, livelihood and visibility of artists in our community in order to publicize their works on a visible and dignified platform. Contributions of all kinds, including artistic and literary contributions for publication, are made on a voluntary basis in order to support the LGBTIQ + movement in the region, our struggle and most importantly, our talent.
Specifically, for the printed editions of La Fanzine where all contributions are clearly "ad honorem" as their aim, objective and purpose are to make both our LGBTIQ + subject matters and the talents of our community visible. The proceeds from the sales of magazines, objects and tickets to LaFanzine events are used exclusively for the self-financing of present and future projects, and their logistics for the empowerment, visibilization and benefit of our community's plight agaist all discrimintation and stigmas.v
